Second blog. Advanced 2 A

We have worked on the lesson 5 "Looking back". We saw different grammar structures that were these ones:
  • Past Routines
  • Verbs, adjectives, or nouns
  • Degrees of ability
  • Connectors of contrast
  • Definition of remind and remember

Past Routines

These are used for talking about things that happened in the past but are not happening anymore.
Examples:

*Chris is finally get used to being a success
-Chris is no finally getting used to beeing sucsess
?Chris is finally getting used to being a success

Verbs, adjectives, or nouns

Nostalgic: characterized by or exhibiting feelings of nostalgia.
Remember: is when you think of a memory (past experience).                                                                 
Remind: is when a person or thing makes you think about something.
Forgetful: apt or likely not to remember.
Reminisce: indulge in enjoyable recollection of past events.

Degrees of ability

Present: can, am, is, are, able to}Formal

Past: could, was, were able to} Managed. Succeeded.

Future: cant, will be able to} Performance. Achievement.
 Conectors of contrast

Phrases or a word in a sentence or paragraph that separates the main idea with the contrasting idea.
Examples:

  • Nevertheless 
  • However 
  • Otherwise 
  • Even though 
  • Despite the fact 
  • Though  
  • In spite of the
Even thought it was cold, althought I went swimming} Adverb clausses

It was cold, but I went swimming anyway} Conjuctions

It was cold. Nevertheless, I went swimming} Transitions

I went swimming despite the cold water} Prepositions 

CONCLUSION
I still confused about some themes, but I love learn and if it is about English, more!
I learned that remind and remeber doesn't mean the same. I have to study more about degrees of ability because I'm not very clear. Conectors of contrast I'm unterstand them a little bit more.
